Quaker Lobby Day (Eighth Annual!)
Monday, February 15, 2016 (Presidents’ Day), 9:00-3:00 Olympia Friends Meeting House It’s a great opportunity to welcome and gather with Friends from around the state, discuss issues of social justice that are before the state legislature, and meet with legislators at the Capitol to bring our issues to their attention. Friends Committee on Washington Public Policy invites you to participate in our eighth annual Quaker Lobby Day on Monday, Presidents’ Day February 15th, 2016. The day will begin at 9 am at the Olympia Friends Meetinghouse, 3201 Boston Harbor Road, Olympia WA 98506. There we will discuss our priority issues, such as addressing support for current and former prisoners, climate change, and preserving the safety net for those with limited resources. We will then go to the Capitol Building by noon to bring our Quaker perspective as we meet with our individual legislators about these issues. If you’ve never lobbied before, you are not alone! Perhaps you’re hesitant about lobbying because you’re unfamiliar with the issues. If so, Quaker Lobby Day is the place to learn. Registrants from the same legislative district will have the opportunity to visit legislators as a delegation with appointments made with the legislators for that district. Please join us! Click here to register As Quaker Lobby Day approaches, we will send you an agenda for the day, updates on the issues, and directions to the Olympia Friends Meetinghouse – and set up appointments with your local legislators. Working together, we can do amazing things! Leni Skarin, Clerk
